PERU – Four neighbors were commended for their efforts in notifying authorities and saving pets in a Sunday evening house fire in Peru. At Monday night’s city council meeting, Mayor Scott Harl presented the, “Good Neighbor” award to a couple who called the authorities and two men who helped rescue two dogs from the burning home on 15th and Prospect. King says the group did an outstanding job getting the dogs out when the home was infiltrated with smoke.
