Police Dog Diagnosed With Leukemia to Retire

NORMAL – A police dog with nearly seven years on the Normal Police Department has had to retire after a diagnosis of leukemia. The Normal Police Department announced the news on social media that K-9 Barrett was found to have chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Officer Barrett has taken part in raids that seized over 37,000 grams of drugs, $27,000 in cash and assisted in 459 arrests. He will now be spending his time at the home of his partner, Officer Jon Cleveland.
