MORRIS, IL – Authorities have arrested a father in the death of his baby son. Minooka Police say that 18-year-old Nicholas A. Fecarota, of Minooka, was arrested Friday for murder in the first degree. Police were summoned to a Minooka apartment around 12:30 Friday afternoon for an unresponsive 3-week-old baby boy. The Grundy County Coroner says the 27 day old baby was transported to Morris Hospital ER where he was pronounced dead shortly before 1:30 pm. Police say the baby’s skull was fractured, and that Fecarota admitted to throwing the baby multiple times to stop him from crying.
As of Saturday evening, Fecarota is being held in the Grundy County Jail and is awaiting formal charges and bond. Assisting the Minooka Police and Grundy County Coroner in the investigation are the Will/Grundy County Major Crime Task Force and the Grundy County State’s Attorney’s Office.
