HAMPTON – The Police Chief of Hampton, Illinois has died after a single vehicle crash Saturday evening. According to the Illinois State Police Chief 57-year-old Terrence A. Engle was responding to a call traveling on Illinois Route 84 in Rock Island County when for unknown reasons his squad car left the roadway and struck a tree. He was taken to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Illinois State Police say the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
