SPRING VALLEY – The remaining portions of the old bridge over the Illinois River is scheduled to imploded Wednesday in Spring Valley. IDOT announced that, weather permitting, closures will begin around 7:30 a.m. and the Illinois Route 89 bridge should be open by 10 a.m., however, the Illinois River Channel will be closed for 24 hours while crews remove the old bridge from the water. The new bridge, located next to the old one, was finished in June.
