Retired Princeton K9 passes away

PRINCETON – A former Princeton K9 has passed away at the age of 13. The Princeton Police Department announced Wednesday that Roy, a Belgian Malinois who retired in 2021, passed away on Tuesday with his handler by his side. Roy joined the department with handler Officer Joel Drozda in 2013 as a dual-purpose Police K9 Team. During his illustrious career he assisted in numerous arrests and help take hundreds of pounds of illegal drugs off the streets. Roy also performed community outreach by doing K9 demonstrations and visiting the local schools and businesses.
