Rockford man turns himself in for car burglaries in Shabbona


 
SHABBONA – A Rockford man has turned himself in to the Dekalb County Jail for car burglaries in Shabbona on Sunday, after initially fleeing and eluding police. According to Dekalb County Sheriff’s, on Friday as authorities were responding to a burglary report in Shabbona, police observed a suspicious vehicle and upon later contact, the driver was identified as, 44-year-old George Kalina of Rockford. Police say they learned Kalina may have been involved with the burglaries reported last week. Kalina then allegedly fled authorities in his vehicle and could not be located. Rockford Police say they found a vehicle matching Kalina’s abandoned on Saturday and discovered items from a previous burglary located inside. On Sunday, Kalina reportedly turned himself in to the Dekalb County Jail, where he is being held.
