DIXON – The city of Dixon has removed the Russian flag from a park along the riverfront. The City of Dixon, along with the Dixon Sister Cities and the Dixon Chamber of Commerce said they were united in denouncing the egregious violation of Ukraine’s independent sovereignty. They have replace the Russian Federation’s flag with Ukraine’s in solidarity with the Ukrainian people. Dixon is a sister city to the city of Dikson, a community in the Krasnoyarsk Territory of Russia. Additionally, the Sister City flags of Herzberg, Germany; Castlebar, Ireland; and Thika, Kenya will be temporarily taken down and replaced with the Ukrainian flag as a sign of unity. Dixon has strong ties to former president Ronald Reagan, who condemned the Soviet Union as an evil empire.
