MENDOTA – A School Resource Officer (SRO) will begin serving Mendota High School at the start of the next school year. In a joint press release Wednesday morning, the City of Mendota and Mendota High School announced that the full-time officer position is pending approval of the City Council and High School Board of Education, and that the SRO will serve as both a mentor and an educator to high school students starting in the 2019-2020 school year. Once selected, the candidate will receive additional, specialized training to work with juveniles, as officials note that it is important that the SRO is properly trained, evaluated, and integrated into the school community.
