Bureau County – Graphic Studstill Media

PRINCETON- A second resident of Bureau County has tested positive for COVID-19.  The 48-year-old woman was tested by an area hospital.  She is recovering at home in isolation.   Public health officials are in the beginning stages of the investigation and are working to identify individuals who were in contact with the case. Federal privacy restrictions prohibit the release of any additional information regarding this case.

“This is the second confirmed case of COVID-19 in Bureau County and the third in counties served by the Bureau, Putnam and Marshall County Health Departments. The first case was reported in Marshall County on March 23rd” said Hector Gomez, BPMCHD Administrator.

“As more testing becomes available we expect to see the number of confirmed cases continue to rise in our counties,” Gomez said. “Our staff is working closely with our local hospitals, other health care and senior care providers, emergency management agencies, emergency medical services and other first responders and volunteers to prepare for the full impact of COVID 19 in our communities.”

“At this point, it is not possible to over-emphasize the importance of physical distancing for persons of all ages. We all need to work together to protect the vulnerable members of our counties from being included in the numbers of seriously ill and dying that we are watching grow each day in the U.S.A and Illinois.”
