GARDNER – The Grundy County Coroner’s Office and Grundy County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a crash on Saturday that claimed the life of a six-year-old girl. Authorities say the crash occurred just before 1:30 pm in Gardner. Police say, a vehicle driven by the child’s mother was northbound on Rt. 66 when she approached the stop sign intersecting with Rt. 53. Preliminary investigation indicates she lost control of the vehicle and rolled several times coming to a final rest in the grassy field adjacent to the Gardner American Legion. The child was reportedly ejected from the vehicle and later transported to an area hospital. Coroner Callahan states Ryliegh Williams suffered multiple blunt force injuries and was pronounced dead. The crash remains under investigation by Coroner Callahan’s Office and the Grundy County Sheriff’s department.
