STREATOR – A smoke alarm alerted a Streator resident to a fire inside of a single family home early Sunday morning. Streator Fire Department officials say that the resident of the home in the 500 block of South Sterling was able to escape the burning home and call 911. When firefighters arrived two minutes after they got the call at 3:13 Sunday morning, they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the residence. Authorities state that no injuries were reported and damage to the rear of the home was severe with heavy fire, smoke and water damage, and the rest of the home suffered moderate smoke damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
