Spring Valley approves paid part time firefighter position

SPRING VALLEY – Spring Valley’s city council approved hiring on a part time firemen and means of more revenue for the department. At Monday nights meeting, members of the fire department packed city hall to support the approval of a paid day time firemen’s position, that will be partially funded with the cities general funds. An ordinance fining for false alarms was amended. The city will now charge $250 after the first offense and $500 for any false alarms thereafter. It was also agreed upon to bill insurance companies for particular calls through Northern Illinois Ambulance Billing.
