Spring Valley considers fining for false alarms

SPRING VALLEY – Spring Valley’s Fire Department is looking into fining for false alarms. In a public health and safety meeting, council discussed means of revenue to support more daytime firemen. Chief Bogatitus says increased call volume is a major factor in needing more help. According to the departments 2018 call data, false alarms came in as the second most responded to call. He says a city ordinance allows for billing after more than 2 false alarms within a quarter, a $250 fine. Council says billing for false alarms might be answer in order to diminish the problem.
