PRINCETON –  A Spring Valley Man accused of killing his girlfriend has waived his right to a speedy trial on Monday. 37-year-old Eddie L. Mentgen, charged with first degree murder for his alleged involvement in the April homicide of 28-year-old Marissa Roberts, requested his Pre-Trial date be rescheduled from September 9th to November 6th. Mentgen is being held at the Illinois Department of Corrections, having 160 days to a trial within his arrest, but will go well over that time frame at 213 days under custody before his trial. In July, Mentgen pleaded not guilty to his charge at the Bureau County Courthouse.
