SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Lance Yednock, D-Ottawa, is sponsoring legislation that would support local hunters and sportsman by creating an easier and streamlined hunting and fishing license that would be valid for five years in Illinois. Yednock-backed House Bill 1598 creates the option for residents of Illinois to obtain 5-year hunting, fishing and sportsman licenses. Currently, the only options available are 1-year licenses and lifetime licenses. Under the expanded license, fees would still be reduced in half for seniors and veterans. Yednock has also introduced legislation that would expand allowable weapons for deer hunting.
