Streator awarded $1.6 million dollars for sewer and wastewater treatment improvements


 
 
STREATOR – The city of Streator is a recipient of $1.6 million dollars in federal funding for storm sewers and wastewater improvements. At Streator’s Committee meeting, Mayor Tara Bedei proudly announced that the city is being awarded the funds, $1.2 million secured through U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth, and $400,000 secured through U.S. Senator Dick Durbin for the Fiscal Year 2023 Omnibus Appropriations Act.
 

 
$1.2 million will go towards the installation of new energy-efficient motors and other upgrades at the city’s wastewater treatment plant. $400,000 will go towards the installation of new storm sewers, eliminate combined sewer overflows and reduce residential basement sewer backups.
