STREATOR – Streator City Council discussed solutions to persistent speeding on Old Orchard Lane after several residents voiced their concern. Streator resident Mindy Stevens spoke to the council at their Thursday meeting and said that she has seen several motorists not respecting the speed limit and requested a speed hump be installed. The council said there are more children in that neighborhood than ever before and discussed what the appropriate solution should be, noting that there could be potential liabilities with a speed hump if it caused an accident. The council said at minimum, they would increase police presence on Old Orchard Lane.
