Thunderstorm risk for north central Illinois

CHICAGO – Several area counties are under a significant thunderstorm risk tonight. According to the National Weather Service, LaSalle, Lee, De Kalb, Kendall, Grundy and Livingston are just some of the counties in north central Illinois that are under hazardous weather conditions. An elevated risk of hail up to half a dollar size is included in the weather service’s outlook in addition to damaging wind risks up to 7 m.p.h. The threat of damaging winds and tornadoes may lower this evening, however, large hail will remain possible, according to NWS. They say any storm will be capable of producing torrential rainfall, which could result in localized flash flooding tonight.
