STREATOR – Illinois American Water is reminding customers of some tips to prevent water damage from frozen and burst pipes. Spokesperson Karen Cotton says there are ways to prevent the headache and unexpected expense. When temperatures are consistently at or below freezing homeowners should eliminate sources of cold air near water lines, know the location of your main water shut-off and allow a small trickle of water to run overnight to keep pipes from freezing.
