Train Strikes Abandoned Car Near Mendota

MENDOTA – An abandoned vehicle on the train tracks Southwest of Mendota was struck by a train Sunday morning. According to the LaSalle County Sheriff’s office, a little after 6 AM deputies were called to the accident site. No occupants were located and the incident remains under investigation by the BNSF and the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office.
