Tri-County area harvests more deer than last year

SPRINGFIELD – Local hunters harvested more deer this season than last. According to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, LaSalle County hunters took home nearly 1,800 deer, up about 200 kills compared to last year. Bureau County residents harvested around 1,900 deer, up 150 from last year’s season. In Putnam County, slightly less than 700 deer were taken this season, about 30 more than last year. Statewide, hunters took over 160,000 deer during all 2020-21 archery and firearm seasons, which concluded on January 17th.
