PERU – Two Illinois Valley Community Hospital nurses are among a group of healthcare and other essential workers who can been seen in a Huey Lewis and the News music video accompanying the group’s new song, “I Am There for You,” a tribute to those battling the coronavirus pandemic.
The video features a series of self-recorded clips of nurses, doctors, first responders, and other essential workers from around the world holding signs, each with a line of the song’s lyrics.
Julie Repsel, an emergency department nurse at IVCH, and nurse supervisor Mary Milashoski submitted their video clips after Repsel saw a Facebook message from the band inviting essential workers to be part of the video promoting the new song.
Repsel said it took about and hour and a half to record the clips she and Milashoski submitted about two months ago.
“We had a blast,” she said. “We thought it would be something fun to do to alleviate some of the stress all of us have been going through.”
The video was released online this week. The IVCH nurses, wearing their hospital name tags, can be seen four times in the four- minute-and-13-second video.
Repsel said she and Milashoski have always been big fans of Huey Lewis and the News. The two are holding a sign that says “We love you, Huey!” in one of the clips that can be seen on the video.
“We are lucky and proud to have such wonderful fans, many of whom are front line workers themselves, to highlight the courage, compassion, and sacrifices we are so grateful for,” Lewis said in a statement published on the Datebook web site.
