Two killed in head-on Grundy County Crash

MORRIS – Two people are dead after a head-on crash in Grundy County on Friday. Authorities say around 1 PM a vehicle driven southbound by 75-year-old Sandra L. Viola of Arlington Heights for unknown reasons went into the northbound lanes of Illinois Route 47 in front of the Grundy County Fairgrounds. One vehicle traveling north was able to avoid a collision, but the vehicle behind it, driven by 57-year-old Timothy L. Shride of Happy Valley, Oregon was not. Shride was pronounced dead at the scene and his wife was injured in the crash. She was taken to an area hospital. Viola was ejected from her vehicle during the incident and also died at the scene. The crash is being investigated by Grundy County Coroner John Callahan’s Office along with Morris Police department. The Grundy Sheriff’s Department is reconstructing the crash.
