SPRING VALLEY – Clean-up begins this week for an oil spill on Barto Boat Landing. On Saturday, the Illinois State Police reported an oil slick in the small harbor of the boat landing that prompted additional Haz-mat resources. On-site coordinator Thomas Mendez with the United States Environmental Protection Agency, says the source of the spill is unknown, but clean-up operations have begun and will be monitored thereafter.
