Wallace Fire Gets Grant for Gear

OTTAWA – The Wallace Fire Protection District received a federal grant of over $77,000 to finance personal protective equipment. The award was given through the US Fire Administration Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, managed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. According to FEMA, the primary goal of the grant is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and emergency medical service organizations. Through the grant, the Wallace Fire Protection District will purchase thirty sets of head-to-toe personal protection equipment like helmets, boots, bunker coats and pants.
