OTTAWA – The American Red Cross is reminding residents nationwide that with the time change set for this weekend, that you should take the opportunity to test your smoke detectors. If they fail to respond after installation of a fresh battery, they need to be replaced. They also say you should replace any unit that is over 10 years old or older, and you should have at least one detector on each level of your home. Over 60,000 home fires occur annually across the United States.
