CYBERSPACE (AP) — What’s the word — for 2019? According to Dictionary.com, the answer is “existential.” The annual choice reflects the concern that has faced many during the past 12 months. The site’s senior research editor says the word saw an uptick of searches when news events were framed in existential terms. For example, teen activist Greta Thunberg called climate change an existential crisis and former Vice President Joe Biden referred to President Donald Trump as an existential threat to decency.
