The Streator girls volleyball team earned a three-set Illinois Central Eight Conference victory at Herscher on Thursday, while Newark and Somonauk claimed Little Ten Conference wins. Plus more results from around the Times area.

The St. Bede volleyball team – led by five kills each from Hannah Heiberger, Kijah Lucas and Finley Rue – defeated Woodland 25-21, 25-18 on Thursday night in a Tri-County Conference match.

State Rep. Murri Briel, D-Ottawa, held a town hall Thursday at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of DeKalb. Briel is seeking a second term in office and facing opposition from Liz Bishop, a Republican from Peru.

The Illinois Valley Community College Board of Trustees will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the Board Room (C-307).

The trick-or-treating hours for the Friday session will be from 3-5 p.m. Alderwoman Vicki Johnson said that Saturday’s hours will be 5-8 p.m.

The La Salle County Genealogy Guild will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 at its headquarters in Ottawa.
