
UTICA – A rural fire in LaSalle County sent one firefighter to the hospital after a fall through the floor into the basement. Around 9:30 PM Sunday Utica Fire was called to the 1100 block of North 32nd Road for a gas meter on fire. Responding crews found the front of the vacant home ablaze. A mutual aid call went out and one firefighter had to be rescued when the floor gave way. The firefighter was from Utica and was transported to St. Margaret’s Peru with minor injuries by LaSalle Ambulance. The firefighter has been treated and released. Cause of the fire is under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
