LASALLE – The city of LaSalle has taken interest in a housing rehabilitation project. Connie Buchanan of the North Central Illinois Council of Governments presented the Community Development Block Grant to LaSalle’s City Council on Monday. Around ten homes in a designated area based on low to moderate income could be eligible for up to $60,000 of minor, moderate, and major home renovations. Residents will complete a survey that will determine if they qualify for the home improvements.
Buchanan says not everybody may need up to $60,000 in improvements and if that’s the case more homes will have the opportunity for rehabilitation. The city plans to discuss the opportunity in depth at future meetings.
