SPRINGFIELD – Youth turkey hunters harvested a preliminary total of 1,309 birds during the 2023 Illinois youth turkey season. According to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, locally, Lee County youth hunters took home 12 turkeys, Bureau County youth hunters took home ten turkeys, and three turkeys were harvested for Putnam and Livingston County youth. The top three counties in the state for youth turkey harvest this year were Jefferson at 52; Randolph at 48, and Marion County at 47.
