PERU – The City of Peru’s Mayor wants to remind the community that the St. Margaret’s Hospital closure in Peru has not been forgotten. At Monday’s city council meeting, Fire Chief Jeff King addressed an incident that occurred last week where a family staying at Grand Bear Resort had a medical emergency. The couple’s daughter was suffering from an asthma attack and went to the Peru Hospital only to find it closed. King says fire department personnel began initial care and the patient was transferred. He anticipates more of these situations in the future. Mayor Ken Kolowski says although he cannot share much information, he and legislators are working towards a solution.
