SPRINGFIELD – Several state senators have signed a letter asking for the Automatic Voter Registration Program to be suspended. It was reported on Thursday that 4700 16-year-old’s began the voter registration process and nearly 300 people who opted out of the program had their information sent to the Illinois Board of Elections and local election authorities. The Illinois State Republican Caucus recommended suspending the program until all “glitches” are fixed and conducting an independent investigation.
