LASALLE – In a press conference Thursday area police departments announced that they are exploring the potential to combine resources in an effort reduce costs and provide greater services to residents. The four cities, LaSalle, Peru, Oglesby and Spring Valley each were present to present the first stages of the proposal.
The mayors of those communities commissioned an initiative to explore cost savings. In a statement, the law enforcement agencies made it clear that each organization would retain its independence, regardless on where a combined headquarters would be located and what duties and resources were shared.
“There will be nobody losing their jobs, or pensions.“ said Mayor Walt Marini of Spring Valley.
Further meetings are planned and no commitments have been made yet to implement any specific changes to area law enforcement.
