Bureau County sites added to the National Register of Historic Places

PRINCETON – Two sites in Bureau County were added to the National Register of Historic Places, according to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The Hampshire Colony Congregational Church in Princeton was listed on August 28th. Built in 1906, the church is a noteworthy example of “Richardsonian Romanesque” architecture. Known for its construction with concrete blocks that resemble stone. Princeton’s North and South Main street historic districts, were listed on January 18th. Both are noted to exemplify the city’s evolution over time as a vibrant local commercial center in Bureau County in the 19th and 20th centuries.
