Employees Allegedly Set Off Fireworks Inside A Fast Food Restaurant, Watch the Place Burn After Locking Themselves Out

On July 5th 2021, management of a chain fast food restaurant reported surveillance footage captured employees causing the fire inside the restaurant while playing with fireworks to the Nashville Fire Department.
According to surveillance footage from a fast food restaurant, employees are allegedly seen locking the doors to the building before running around inside the store with fireworks in their hands. The employees can be seen going into the men’s restroom and stay out of the camera’s view for a time then return to the lobby.
While in the lobby, the employees allegedly put something in a trash can near a door, exit the building, and can be seen using their cell phones to record the trash can while outside. The employees are seen trying to get back into the building after the trash can apparently began to create billows of smoke.
When the employees weren’t able to get back in, they called 911. Nashville Fire Department firefighters arrived on scene and forcibly entered the building to extinguish the fire. Investigators concluded the fire had caused damage to the main dining room. They also found damage inside the men’s restroom where it appeared some fireworks were ignited in a garbage can.
Damages to the inside of the building are estimated to be more than $30,000. The restaurant’s shift leader on duty, 25 year-old Courtney Mayes was arrested and charged with Felony Aggravated Arson on Monday. She is in the Davidson County jail on $5,000 bond.
NFD Fire Investigators are still conducting the investigation and are expecting more arrests in the coming days. Surveillance footage is not available at this time.
