OGLESBY – Local Democrats took the IVCC stage Wednesday to explore democratic socialism and its relevance to todays politics. IVCC College Democrat and Professor, Jared Oleson, along with LaSalle County Democrats Chairwoman Dani Brzozowski and Chicago Democratic Socialist and labor lawyer Ramsin Canon, shared what democratic socialism meant to them. Increasing homelessness, healthcare and labor unions were pinpoints of discussion for the democrats.
The trio believes that work places should be democratically controlled and stressed building power locally to fight against capitalism.
