OGLESBY – Illinois Valley Community College’s Jacobs Library is hosting a memorial dedication for Joanne Jalley at noon Tuesday, Sept. 18.
Jalley, a library technical assistant, worked at IVCC for 20 years. She died Oct. 31, 2015.
After her death, donations were made to the IVCC Foundation and a cook-out and raffle held to raise money toward a memorial. A wildlife and nature photography gallery, media collaboration table and planters honoring the former librarian were purchased with the funds. They will be dedicated in a brief ceremony in the library’s Active Learning Center.
Head Librarian Frances Whaley said, “Joanne touched the lives of so many people it is fitting to honor her memory with a dedication to this beautiful enhancement to the library funded by those she touched.”
