North Central Illinois nears prime time for vivid colors

By: USFWS Midwest Region

The North Central Illinois region is near peak time for vast fall foliage changes. Lisa Sons, Natural Resource Coordinator for Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks, says areas may not see all color due to stress from dry weather last month.

With the wet and cool weather the area has experienced so far, and the days to come, by next week trees will peak to see an optimal color change. District foresters locally with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, are posting week-by-week photos of the fall foliage at enjoyillinois.com
