LELAND – A collision near Leland has left one person dead and six injured. Around 6:30 AM Wednesday Leland, Somonauk, Sheridan and Earlville EMS were called to the intersection of US Route 34 and East 1950th Road for a two vehicle rollover accident with entrapment.
According to the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, 50 year-old John Edgar of Wheeling was traveling north on 1950th Road when his vehicle went into the intersection with US Rt 34 and collided with a vehicle driven by 43 year-old Jose C Orozco of Mendota. Edgar and his passenger were transported to a hospital in Mendota, and Orozco and his four passengers were taken to a Sandwich hospital.
According to the DeKalb County Coroner, 57 year old Flavio Sanchez, a passenger in Orozcos vehicle, passed away later at a Sandwich hospital. The incident remains under investigation by the LaSalle County Sheriffs Office and the DeKalb County Coroners Office.
