Ottawa regulating number of gambling cafes

OTTAWA – The city of Ottawa is taking action to reduce the number of gambling businesses within its limits. Council passed a change to their code, limiting the number of gaming cafes to nine, eventually. Mayor Dan Aussem says existing businesses with gaming licenses are grandfathered in, but if they close, they’re out of luck. He says gambling cafes have been claiming to be bars or restaurants however, they’re not reaching a required 60% of business coming from food and drink.
