Peru shows early success in fireworks crackdown

PERU – With the upcoming 4th of July holiday, the city of Peru announced they would be enforcing the laws regarding illegal fireworks within the city limits. This last weekend Police Chief Doug Bernabei said they department ticketed three individuals for disorderly conduct for setting off fireworks in Peru. He emphasized that the locations in the community that are selling firework type items in tents are selling novelty products legally, and that they are on the lookout for individuals using items illegal in the state.
