Use the P-I-E-S acronym to help cope amid pandemic

By: Chrissy Faessen

UNDATED – During this unprecedented time where people across the county are feeling the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, its important to find ways to stay resilient. A public-safety psychological service in Washington is using the P-I-E-S acronym to help people cope. P stands for physical health. The agency encourages exercise of any kind and avoid sugary and processed foods. I stands for intellectual health. It is encouraged to keep your mind occupied with useful things, like learning something new.
E stands for emotional health. While all emotions are valid at this time, it’s important to engage in self-care whatever that may be. S stands for Spiritual Health and is broadly defined as religious faith, mediation or anything that gives you the opportunity to connect with something outside yourself.
