OTTAWA -In recognition of National telecommunications week, the Ottawa city council honored several dispatchers for their service. Over a dozen Ottawa Central dispatchers filled the council chambers Monday night to receive plaques of honor and service pins from Public Health and Safety Commissioner James Less.
Two dispatchers especially were honored for their outstanding service for the year, Stacy Fuentes and Chandler Koepke. Fuentes has been with Ottawa Central Dispatch for nine years, and Koekpe for five years. Of Fuentes, peers noted her hard work ethic and dependability. Koepke was pivotal in the safe apprehension of an armed robbery suspect at Illinois Valley Community College in 2020.
