Gas prices spring upward statewide

CHICAGO – Spring has sprung and so have gas prices in North Central Illinois. The American Automobile Association says the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline drifted lower since last week by three cents to hit $3.43, but Illinois’ average doesn’t compare. Illinoisans will see a five-cent increase on average this week, at $3.70 cents per gallon. LaSalle and Lee counties currently have the cheapest prices regionally, at $3.55 cents per gallon. Putnam County remains the most expensive at $3.62 cents per gallon.
