MINONK – The Illinois State Police Escorted the remains of a local World War ll staff seargant to Minonk, on Thursday. The remains of Herbert W. Harms were transported to Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk before returning Harms remains to his hometown of Rutland, Illinois. In August of 1944, his aircraft was struck by anti-aircraft artillery during an oil refinery bombing mission to Zeitz, Germany. Visitation for Harms will be from 11am to 12pm, Saturday, November 3 at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk, IL.
