MENDOTA – The new pickleball courts in Mendota are now open. They are located near Lake Mendota and the Mendota softball fields. Alexis Finley and Zach Compell, both from Mendota, were among the first to play on the new surface Thursday.
“I haven’t been playing it long, just in P.E., but I play tennis a lot” said Finley.
Pickelball is a paddle sport that is played similar to tennis, but in a smaller area. The new court can accommodate four games simultaneously. A feature of the Mendota court is a net that separates half the playing surface to prevent games from interfering with each other.
“It’s a lot of fun” noted Finley.
