UTICA – The weekend training by the Utica Fire and Rescue Department helped clear flood debris from Starved Rock State Park along with rope rescue experience. On Saturday the department conducted training at Wildcat Canyon and also took the time to remove a red navigation buoy that has been stuck in that location for the past three years. The steel buoy was hoisted to the top of the canyon using many of the same methods that responders would use to rescue an injured person at the park.
